We work with local councils, non-government agencies and community organisations in our region to contribute to the goal of a Smokefree Aotearoa 2025.
For example, we support councils to put in place outdoor smokefree vapefree policies. All councils in our region have smokefree vapefree policies covering all parks, playgrounds and sports grounds.
The reason for outdoor smokefree vapefree policies is make smoking and vaping less acceptable in our communities. Children and young people learn by observing others, the less children and young people see smoking and vaping the less likely they are to become smokers or vapers themselves.
